Our diversity and inclusion achievements

Over the last 12 months, the Sodexo Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) team and its employee networks have helped to inspire change. With your support, guidance and participation, Sodexo UK & Ireland have strengthened our initiatives and programmes across the region.

To celebrate these successes, the D&I team have published the 2018/19 achievements - this document is available to all employees and is encouraged to be shared with your colleagues. We still have much to achieve, but Sodexo has come a long way with our D&I journey.

Since September 2018, some of our achievements include two client facing events:

This year there has also been an overwhelming response to D&I activities such as walking in Pride marches, International Women’s Day, IDAHOBIT, and International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

Business manager at Northern Ireland Hospice, Laura Wilson, was the inaugural winner of the Unsung Hero of the Year Award at the 2018 Institute of Hospitality Northern Ireland Awards for Professionalism, having been nominated by client relations manager, Suzanne Pollock.

Healthcare sites have introduced engagement champions across the country, to encourage better links between clients, managers and operational teams. We spoke to senior operations manager Shaun Hollinshead and porter Garry Billings – both champions at Royal Stoke Hospital – about how they work closely together to create an open and honest working environment.

The attraction’s exhibits include video walls, surround cinema, Rolls Royce engines and four state of the art simulators.

Flying high at Emirates Aviation

Chef, cleaner, security guard, porter, receptionist – all familiar roles for Sodexo people, yes? But how about adding flight simulator instructor to that list? It’s one of the unusual roles fulfilled by our team of 20 at the Emirates Aviation Experience in North Greenwich, London.
