Describe your career with Sodexo?

I reach my 30 years’ service in December. I’ve been a chef and chef manager.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

My uncle Dante, because he always said exactly what he was thinking. He always told me that there is no point in saying something just because you know that’s what they want to hear. You must say what you really think, or nothing at all.

What is your biggest extravagance

Food and drink.

What is your ideal job, other than this one?

A butcher – still in the food industry!

Why do you enjoy being part of Sodexo?

It’s a big company, so I have more opportunities to travel and develop. With Sodexo, I never stop learning, there’s always something new. This fits with my desire to progress and to continue learning new skills and ideas.

How much was your first pay packet and what was it for?

1,500,000 Lira a month in 1973 (approximately £580 a month

after tax) but working 18 hours, seven days a week in a fruit and veg corner shop at the seaside in Cesenatico.

What gadget would you never leave home without?

My phone for the music.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

To trust is good, not to trust is better.
