Fareshare

FareShare is one of Sodexo’s key charity partners and we play a vital role in helping the FareShare team provide a lifeline for the hidden hungry here on our doorstep.

The charity saves surplus good food destined for waste and redistributes it to over 1,700 charities and community groups.

Funding from the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation helps FareShare reach out to some of the UK’s most vulnerable people.

FareShare needs you!

Throughout April and May, including during Stop Hunger Day and Servathon, there will be a number of volunteering opportunities for Sodexo people to get involved in. You could spend a day picking and packing at one of 10 depots across the UK, help deliver food to community groups, or take part in a food drive at your local supermarket. Employees who have volunteered so far have said it’s one of the most rewarding things you can do!

A FareShare’s employee talks about the work they do and how your support really helps.

“We’re incredibly grateful for Sodexo’s commitment to FareShare – it really has an amazing impact. With your help, we’re providing healthy and nutritious meals for 82,100 vulnerable people every day: children living in poverty, isolated elderly people, homeless people, victims of domestic violence, war veterans, those fighting addiction, low income families struggling to put food on the table and many more.

“But FareShare food does more than relieve hunger – it’s also vital for physical and mental health. A hot meal is often the hook that draws vulnerable people into charities and opens the door to support services like housing and employment advice, counselling and medical support.

“Volunteers are at the heart of FareShare and we’re really delighted to have such great support from Sodexo employees. We wouldn’t be where we are today without it. So a big thanks, and keep up the good work!”
