Robert has played an invaluable role at the prison since joining in September 2015, credited with taking a department that had lost momentum and turning it around.
Providing employment opportunities for residents as they approach release date is a crucial service for SJS and Robert has brought his extensive welfare to work experience to his role as employment coordinator at HMP Addiewell.
His commitment and dedication is seeing real results, with an increase in the number of prisoners securing work and having hope for their prospects after release. Robert has brought a number of potential employers into the prison, and continues to explore opportunities for improvement.
Deputy director Angela Halliday nominated Robert for his Star of the Month award and said: “He has listened to what both employers and prisoners want, even when their hopes and aspirations seem very low – encouraging them and helping them reach their full potential.”
