This year’s WasteLESS Week takes place from 16 to 20 October and it’s going to be out biggest and best yet, with two competitions running in tandem. Talk in your teams, chat to your manager and see what you, your clients and your customers can do to take part.
Don't forget to start measuring your waste during the week commencing 18 September so you can compare these measurements to your WasteLESS week measurements.
Waste is one of our biggest collective challenges. Tackling it is critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting land and water and improving livelihoods. We believe that less waste results in better quality of life and this is why reducing waste is one of our key Better Tomorrow 2025 commitments.
This year, we are running two competitions:
1. Best WasteLESS Site
This competition is designed to recognise best site-wide effort. Taking part is easy – choose a resource used on site; whether this is food waste, energy or water usage, paper or something else, and start measuring on 18 September over a four-week period before WasteLESS Week. Then, during WasteLESS Week implement initiatives to reduce your chosen resource and record the difference. The site that makes the biggest impact, whether through waste reduction, team engagement or best initiative will win a sustainable meal for their team.
2. Re-purposing waste photo competition:
This competition is designed to recognise our real waste warriors. Whether turning old cords into Bob Marley, making an old piano into outdoor fountain, or simply re-using your leftover potato, we would love to hear your ideas for re-purposing waste. Taking part is really easy – just take a photo of your creation and share it with us on Twitter and Facebook using #WasteLESSWeek. The most creative idea will win a water powered shower radio.
Whatever you decide to do, please raise awareness of WasteLESS Week with your teams, clients and consumers and highlight that everyone has a part to play in reducing waste.
