Every year, International Women’s Day (IWD) is marked on 8 March. There’s no doubt that women’s rights and gender equality are hot topics at the moment, with the rapidly growing #MeToo campaign and last month’s 100-year anniversary of (some) women winning the right to vote firmly turning the spotlight on the issue.
Yet the alarming fact is that the World Economic Forum has predicted it will take 217 years to achieve gender equality.
So while it’s important to mark IWD, Sodexo is pressing for empowerment of women every single day with the recently launched #IWDeveryday campaign.
Women’s empowerment and gender balance are everyone’s business, so why not get involved in the campaign? There are some great videos to watch, groups to join and activities to take part in. Your managers have a huddle presentation too, so you might find IWD on your huddle agenda soon!
