Celebrating International Women’s Day!

Time 19 days ago Comments 0 comments

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. IWD is an official holiday in some countries where men honour the women in their lives with flowers and small gifts!

Research from the World Economic Forum has predicted it will take 217 years to achieve gender equality. At Sodexo we have set ourselves the objective to have 100% gender balanced teams by 2025 as part of Better Tomorrow 2025. You can read more about Sodexo’s own research into the benefits of gender balanced teams here

The theme for this year’s campaign is #BalanceforBetter - a call to action for driving gender balance across the world. As part of this year’s campaign, Sodexo UK & Ireland are running a number of activities in celebration of IWD.

On 5 March, the SoTogether employee network launched its FM Hub. The FM Hub has a clear mission to increase gender diversity in facilities management roles at Sodexo. To find out more and to join the SoTogether network, which discuss issues that affect men and women, such as flexible working and health and wellbeing, email or click here.

Sodexo has also launched a global initiative called SheWorks. This is a global programme of job shadowing that gives women the opportunity to experience opportunities they may not have considered previously. We’ll be finding out more about the employees that have taken part in SheWorks later this month. Watch this space!

You can follow the IWD #BalanceforBetter campaign and Sodexo activities on the Diversity & Inclusion Blog and Twitter accounts.
