On Friday 17 May 2019, hundreds of Sodexo people wore purple to show their #SodexoPride and solidarity with their Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT+) colleagues to celebrate IDAHOBIT 2019.

IDAHOBIT is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia and takes place annually on the 17 May. This day holds important significance as this is the date in 1990 when the World Health Organisation (WHO) removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders.

Just last week (25 May), the World Health Organisation approved the removal process of “gender identity disorders” from its list of mental disorders. These changes will come into effect in January 2022 marking another step forward for the LGBT+ community worldwide at such an important time of year for LGBT+ inclusion.

In the UK and Ireland, Sodexo took part in the IDAHOBIT celebrations by tuning into a global webinar ‘A conservation with LGBT executives’, displaying posters and recording a podcast discussing the importance of awareness days like these.

The Pride employee network also held a photo competition, asking Sodexo people to wear purple and share their #SodexoPride on social media - purple is also the colour associated with mental health awareness. Hundreds of people took part!

The Pride network are pleased to announce the winners of the IDAHOBIT photo competition are:
