On Thursday 6 June, Sodexo was proud to join 800 other representatives from across the hospitality industry at the 2019 Craft Guild of Chefs Awards - an event that is widely regarded as the Oscars of the culinary profession.
The awards, held at the London Hilton on Park Lane, recognise the hospitality industry’s leading talent across all sectors of the profession. Sodexo has been a long-term supporter of the event, and proud sponsor of the prestigious Special Award - which, this year, was won by Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines MBE in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the culinary industry.

This year, four Sodexo colleagues were shortlisted for an award. And, with some of the biggest names in the industry in attendance, these individuals were in great company and a credit to Sodexo’s culinary heritage.
The Sodexo finalists were:
Gemma Amor, Ascot Racecourse, Sports & Leisure - Banqueting & Event Chef award
Brian Canale, Executive Chef, Sports & Leisure, Heritage Portfolio - Banqueting & Event Chef award
Patrycia Gora, Tidworth Garrison, Government & Agencies - Apprentice Chef award
David Humphreys, Tillery Valley Foods, Service Operations - Development Chef award
Special congratulations go to Gemma Amor, from our Ascot Racecourse team, who scooped the hotly contested Banqueting & Event Chef award.
Royal Ascot is one of the highlights of the British summer social season, and a prestigious occasion where top-quality food plays a vital role. During the five days of Royal Ascot, Gemma leads a Sodexo team of 350 chefs, who, as Executive chef, she oversees in the production of more than 50,000 fine dining covers, including 220 private boxes, 20 restaurants, six private London clubs, and 51 retail outlets.
Well done to Gemma and our other finalists! You can watch a video below and read about the awards here.
