This year, Armed Forces Day will take place on Saturday 29 June 2019. Celebrations will take place throughout the week leading up to Armed Forces Day, culminating in a national event in Salisbury. Sodexo will be supporting this event, working with the armed forces charity Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) to host a Big Brew Up, providing refreshments for staff and visitors.

Focusing on the quality of life of people serving our country, Sodexo has worked with the British Armed Forces for more than 30 years, with current contracts in Hestia South, Allenby Connaught, Colchester, Cyprus and the Falklands.

Sodexo was an early signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, which commends employers who actively support the Armed Forces community in the workplace, and encourages others to follow their lead. As a result of this long-standing commitment, Sodexo received the Ministry of Defence Gold Employer Recognition Award in 2017. Examples of our commitments include our successful pledge to employ 200 ex-service personnel by the end of 2018, and our strong policies that support colleagues who wish to undertake Reservist duties.

As part of our ongoing commitment to our Armed Forces, we are setting up a Veterans and Reservists employee network, and want to hear from those Reservists, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and Veterans in the business who are keen to get involved - please click here to submit your details, and tell us what you want from the network.

And, don’t forget - even if you are not part of the Armed Forces community, you can join in the celebrations through the #SaluteOurForces campaign. Take a picture of yourself or your team saluting our services this week and you could win £50 via Recognising You! Remember to tag @SodexoUK_Ire on Twitter, or share your picture with the official Sodexo UK & Ireland Facebook page. You can also send your photos via email
