Sodexo salutes the Armed Forces

Time 471 days ago Comments 0 comments

This year’s Armed Forces Day took place on Saturday 29 June 2019. Celebrations took place throughout the week leading up to Armed Forces Day, with Reservists Day also taking place on Wednesday 26 June 2019.

The week culminated in a national event in Salisbury. Sodexo worked with the Armed Forces charity SSAFA to host a Big Brew Up, providing refreshments for staff and visitors.

The #SaluteOurForces campaign took place on social media, asking people to submit pictures of themselves saluting the British Armed Forces. We asked you to join in the celebrations by taking pictures of you and your teams for a chance to win £50 via Recognising You. We had a great response from Sodexo teams all showing their support of the Armed Forces.

We are pleased to announce the winners of the photo competition are…

Snowdon Walkers 2019

On Armed Forces Day, 23 Sodexo employees came together to climb Snowdon raising money for Stop Hunger. The team really got into the spirit of the day by taking photos of them saluting our Armed Forces before, during and at the summit of Snowdon.

So far, the team have raised most of their £3,000 target, so to help them reach their goal, the £50 will be donated directly to their fundraising campaign in support of Stop Hunger. If you would like to continue the fundraising spirit, please click here.

Voice global engagement survey

Voice: it's results time!

Last month, all Sodexo colleagues were invited to take part in our global engagement survey, Voice. We’re delighted to share the results of the survey, which can be used to start conversations within teams about how to address areas for improvement, and how to maintain the good things we’re already doing.

WasteLESS Week 2020

Are you ready for WasteLESS Week?

Teams across the globe are getting for WasteLESS Week 2020,which starts on Monday 26 October, ready to reduce the waste our operations create. This year in the UK and Ireland, we are focussing on food waste - something that we can all help with, both in the workplace and at home.

Show your heart. Play your part.

The future of our local communities is in our hands as the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic continues to have a severe impact on third sector organisations, including Stop Hunger’s charity partners. For the first time ever, the Foundation is asking for your feedback to shape its future focus - show your heart by taking part in the new Stop Hunger survey.

Same 3 Checks for Safety

Keep your mind on safety

With existing safety practices still in place, and new ways of working being frequently introduced, we are asking you to keep your mind open to changes and learn why it’s important for us to keep safety on the brain.

Keeping food allergen incidents at bay

With sites continuing to reopen across the region, we must never forget that food allergens present a danger to over two million people in the UK and Ireland. In the final chapter of our mini series on back-to-site safety, we’re talking about food allergen processes.

Staying vigilant through change

We’re all juggling responsibilities in the new normal, but as new ways of working become the norm, it can be easy to get complacent with safety. This week, we focus on near misses and hazard spotting - a good way for sites to stay on top of their safety game and prevent potentially harmful accidents from ever occurring.

Be prepared, be safe

Simply asking you to be safe is easy enough, but making sure you feel prepared is another story. Returning to work can be pretty daunting after the year we’ve had so far. Help us help you be prepared with these five safety tips.

Getting back to safety basics

With our central offices re-opening, client sites rising again and many people returning to school and work after the summer holidays, it’s time to remind ourselves about Sodexo’s number one priority – keeping colleagues safe.
