Make a difference in your community

At the 2019 Sodexo Foundation Dinner on 19 March 2019, Sodexo CEO Denis Machuel asked the crowd of attendees to stand up and make their annual pledge to support Stop Hunger.

In the four months since the event, over 300 Sodexo colleagues from across the UK and Ireland have fulfilled their pledge and volunteered with Stop Hunger – including Catherine and Jo from the Brand & Communications team (pictured above), who took part on the hottest day of the year!

On the annual day of support, ‘Stop Hunger Day’, held this year on 15 May, over 60 Sodexo colleagues, suppliers and clients from the UK and Ireland region gave up their time to volunteer, with many more making a Stop Hunger pledge.

Stop Hunger has also been approached and asked to facilitate opportunities for over 20 people and even supported a team from the Cabinet Office. The team from No.10 teamed up with Sodexo colleagues at FareShare’s Deptford food centre. You can read more about their volunteering day in a story written by Student Experience Manager Stephanie Allen, who joined the Cabinet Office team to pack food orders for local charities before delivering them to the community.

We are still encouraging as many of you as possible to sign up to Stop Hunger volunteering activities. Every Sodexo employee can take up to three days paid leave each year to support Stop Hunger’s volunteering efforts – so what’s stopping you? Your support really does make a big difference!

Click here for more information and to find Stop Hunger volunteering opportunities near you.

Signing up is easy and completed via the Neighbourly volunteering platform. If you can’t find an opportunity near you, please email Stop Hunger who will be happy to help.

If you have already volunteered this year (or have just booked an activity), make sure to share your photos and thoughts on Twitter or Facebook, using the hashtag #MyStopHungerPledge.

Our 2020 Bake Off winners

Back in April 2020, we launched The Great Sodexo Bake Off as a fun way to bring together the best of your lockdown-inspired boredom bakes. Little did we know that you would respond in droves, giving our judges a real headache and teasing the sweet-tooth of the region.

At the beginning of July, you may have seen a familiar face on the telly box as Veronica Azevedo, Head Chef at Transport for London’s Acton Railway Engineering Works, was put under the studio spotlight on an episode of BBC’s iconic Celebrity MasterChef.

Last week was Armed Forces Week (22 to 28 June 2020); a celebration of the Armed Forces across the region who keep us safe, and an opportunity for Sodexo to celebrate our own teams who support the military community every day.

Salute our Forces

Each year, Armed Forces Week (22 to 28 June 2020) provides Sodexo with the opportunity to commemorate the Armed Forces across the region, and gives us a chance to celebrate our own Hidden Heroes who are helping the military in a number of different ways.
