The annual Springboard Trek celebrates its 30th year with a special trek to Nicaragua taking place in March 2020.
The 11-day trip will see more than 30 trekkers climb four volcanos, experience Nicaraguan village life, help to transform a local school and more, all whilst fundraising to support 70 people into employment within hospitality. In support of this worthy cause, Sodexo has pledged a per person donation of £1,000 to three Sodexo colleagues who take part.
There are two Sodexo places up for grabs on this once in a lifetime trip. Tim Stevens, Catering Operations manager in Corporate Services, has already signed up and committed himself to the challenge.
After seeing Sodexo colleagues participate in previous Springboard Treks, Tim decided that 2020 would be his year.
“I saved the Springboard website in my internet browser favourites and continually checked the website for the announcement – as soon as it popped up, I applied! Over the years, I have participated in various fundraising events, both with my colleagues and personally - long walks, runs, Stoptober, etc, but this year I wanted to take things to the next level.”
Tim has been planning big to help prepare him for exploring South America – particularly the 21km hike up the Hoya Volcano!
“I intend to join the Springboard group training sessions and probably do a few walks with friends; just last Saturday I walked 12 miles. I’m also aiming to learn some Spanish, so I can get the most out of my time in Rota completing the community project.”

Tim has started activities to reach his £3,500 fundraising goal; the trek hopes to raise a huge £130,000 overall. You can help Tim reach his goal by sponsoring his fundraising activities or simply donating to the cause – please click here.
With just two Sodexo places left on the Springboard Trek ’20, are you up for the challenge?
