Each year, Sodexo chefs from across the region battle it out for the prestigious title of Sodexo Chef of the Year. Over the last three months, each business segment has held a series of heats to determine who will go forward to represent them at the grand finale.
The 10 Sodexo chefs going forward to the competition’s final are:
Oliver Keenan - PayPal, Dundalk, Ireland, Corporate Services
Aaron Roberts - Unilever London, Corporate Services
Bruce Morrison - Voyageur Spirit, Energy & Resources
Andy Clarkson - Aliwal Barrack, Government & Agencies
David Humphreys - Tillery Valley Foods, Healthcare
Alex Fellows - Woldingham, Schools
William Tinkler - Eton College, Schools
Piotr Ciszak - Keepers Restaurant at the Royal Academy of Arts, Peyton & Byrne
Ronnel Nulud - Shell HQ, Energy & Resources
Adam Collison - APL, Corporate Services
The focus for the 2020 competition is plant forward menus and the celebration of our sustainable future. With the global population set to increase to over 9 billion people by 2050, Sodexo is striving to improve not only our consumers’ health and wellbeing, but also our planet’s.
In partnership with WWF and Knorr, the competition is highlighting the top 50 plant based foods that we should be eating more of – known as the ‘Future 50’. These 50 foods support Sodexo’s Better Tomorrow commitments and help us reduce our impact on the planet.
Throughout the heats, chefs have showcased their innovative approach using specified Future 50 ingredients, aligning their showstopping menus with a growing demand for healthier and sustainable meal options that taste great and are sourced responsibly.
All 10 finalists will participate in a development day on 27 November 2019 at Unilever Food Solutions, Leatherhead. This is an opportunity for each of them to revisit and refine their menus in preparation for the competition. The final will form part of the Hotel, Restaurant and Catering (HRC) Show 2020 at ExCeL London on 4 March 2020. Register your free place to attend the HRC Show here.
The best of luck to all our finalists, and well done to all those who competed this year!
