Over 600 Sodexo colleagues came together on Thursday 12 December 2019 for a glittering awards ceremony at our Sports & Leisure venue, the ACC Liverpool, to celebrate the winners of our inaugural Spirit of Sodexo Awards.

The Spirit of Sodexo Awards celebrate employees who embody our values of service spirit, team spirit and spirit of progress. The winners crowned on the night had fought off tough competition from over 1,200 nominations across 20 categories.

Following a delicious three course meal prepared by our onsite team, and the announcement of the winners across each category, guests were entertained by alternative classical crossover act, Ember Trio, and The Electric, a collection of some of the UK’s finest session musicians.

The ceremony was hosted by impressionist and comedian Rory Bremner, who entertained the audience with hilarious impressions of Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Louis Walsh (and many others!), as well as compering the evening alongside the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent announcer, Peter Dickson.

Employee of the year Nicola Newman said: “I can’t believe I’ve won – I’m in shock! I’ve worked in student accommodation for 25 years, and with Sodexo for three and a half years, and it’s the first time I’ve won anything like this. I work with a fantastic team and I couldn’t do what I do without them.

“All the nominees are so deserving of this award and it’s fantastic that the great work that everyone does has been recognised tonight.”

Sean Haley, Regional Chair Sodexo UK and Ireland, commented: “Having the ceremony at one of our own venues was a great opportunity to showcase and celebrate what our teams can do, and they certainly did us proud!
“I’d like to thank the team at ACC Liverpool, and once again extend a huge congratulations to all the nominees, finalists and, of course, the winners who were announced on the night.”
