On 21 January 2020, Energy & Resources held a special employee recognition event on the Bateaux London to celebrate the segments’ ‘Everyday Heroes’. Those recognised have consistently gone above and beyond to support the complex Shell London account.

More than 100 guests gathered on the Bateaux London on Tuesday to applaud the teams hard work. Sodexo ambassador and 2003 Rugby World Cup winner, Matt Dawson, hosted the award ceremony. An incredible 200 nominations were submitted during the event lead up by peers and managers, 58 of whom were officially recognised on the night.

2019 was an extremely busy year for the teams working on the Shell London contract. A pivotal moment saw the consolidation of Shell’s business from three London offices to one central location known as ‘Shell Campus’. 1,500 Shell staff migrated offices whilst the Sodexo teams continued to deliver pioneering FM services on a day by day basis.

Joe King, Account Director, Sodexo UK & Ireland said: “What a fantastic evening we had celebrating our front-line Sodexo teams at our first ever Everyday Heroes event. The teams completely bought into the concept with over 200 nominations being received and 70 front line staff recognised for improving the quality of life of our customers. I am especially grateful to Matt Dawson for hosting the event and making our team feel so special.”

10 ‘Super Heroes’ received trophies for their outstanding contribution to the business’ performance and for their own behaviours. However, everyone who attended was reminded of what a journey all their colleagues have been through and what they have collectively achieved.

Steph Horne, Project Deployment Manager, Sodexo UK & Ireland commented: “What a fantastic event that was embraced by our teams. The event was a real celebration of what makes us great, and a clear reflection that our front-line teams are the heroes that drive our business.”

A huge thank you to all the Sodexo teams who work hard to improve our client’s quality of life every day, and well done to all those awarded at this Energy & Resources recognition event.

Don't skate on thin ice

Over the festive period, did you check your mulled wine wasn’t too hot to drink? Or take a trolley to pick up the big Christmas food shop, instead of straining to carry a heavy basket? These are simple risk assessments we all make in everyday life to keep ourselves and others safe. Yet we sometimes forget to apply the same at work and keep up-to-date with crucial HSEQ changes.

Festive 5 Elf

Mental ‘elf’ comes first

In December 2020, we encouraged everyone to put their mental ‘elf’ front and centre by taking part in Festive 5 – our regional festive Stop Hunger fundraiser. With your support, the activity collectively raised more than £2,700 that will go towards helping those most vulnerable within our local communities.
