The Sodexo employee lottery, Your Lucky Number, has been awarding weekly prizes to colleagues across the UK and Ireland since January 2018.

Over 4,000 Sodexo employees enter the prize draw every week for just £1, with an opportunity to win three prizes from a fund of £1,550.

On 23 March 2020 , Region Chair Sean Haley was randomly drawn for the top prize – winning a huge £1,200!

As a Stop Hunger trustee, Sean decided to donate his winnings to two different charities as a way of continuing his support, but also to help them through this difficult time as the third sector is placed under even more pressure to support those most at risk in society, owing to the impact of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Sean has donated the cash to the Springboard charity, and a holiday sports club at Hovingham Primary School in Leeds, where he recently volunteered.

In February 2020, Sean spent time at the school with Stop Hunger, volunteering his time to help register children, assist coaches, distribute lunches and assist with clearing up. Sean wanted to share his winnings to continue supporting their work with some of the most vulnerable children within the local community.

You can watch the video of Sean and others volunteering at the sports club below:

The second charity, Springboard, which aims to support individuals from all backgrounds into employment within the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries. If you would like to find out more about Springboard, please click here.

Voice global engagement survey

Voice: it's results time!

Last month, all Sodexo colleagues were invited to take part in our global engagement survey, Voice. We’re delighted to share the results of the survey, which can be used to start conversations within teams about how to address areas for improvement, and how to maintain the good things we’re already doing.

WasteLESS Week 2020

Are you ready for WasteLESS Week?

Teams across the globe are getting for WasteLESS Week 2020,which starts on Monday 26 October, ready to reduce the waste our operations create. This year in the UK and Ireland, we are focussing on food waste - something that we can all help with, both in the workplace and at home.

For the first time ever, the Foundation is asking for your feedback to shape its future focus - show your heart by taking part in the new Stop Hunger survey.

Same 3 Checks for Safety

Keep your mind on safety

With existing safety practices still in place, and new ways of working being frequently introduced, we are asking you to keep your mind open to changes and learn why it’s important for us to keep safety on the brain.

Keeping food allergen incidents at bay

With sites continuing to reopen across the region, we must never forget that food allergens present a danger to over two million people in the UK and Ireland. In the final chapter of our mini series on back-to-site safety, we’re talking about food allergen processes.

Staying vigilant through change

We’re all juggling responsibilities in the new normal, but as new ways of working become the norm, it can be easy to get complacent with safety. This week, we focus on near misses and hazard spotting - a good way for sites to stay on top of their safety game and prevent potentially harmful accidents from ever occurring.

Be prepared, be safe

Simply asking you to be safe is easy enough, but making sure you feel prepared is another story. Returning to work can be pretty daunting after the year we’ve had so far. Help us help you be prepared with these five safety tips.

Getting back to safety basics

With our central offices re-opening, client sites rising again and many people returning to school and work after the summer holidays, it’s time to remind ourselves about Sodexo’s number one priority – keeping colleagues safe.
