As a trusted strategic partner of governments all around the world, Sodexo's work is truly integral to our essential public services. With those services under increased pressure as a result of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, Sodexo has been at the forefront of the response all around the world. From our healthcare teams in Wuhan, China, to our food production colleagues in Abertillery, South Wales, our employees - your colleagues - are involved in every stage of the response, from strategic planning to frontline delivery, and everything in between.
The pandemic has brought uncertainty for many people around the world. Senior leaders at Sodexo have been clear in committing to protect jobs, and keep people in paid employment. The redeployment of colleagues - providing alternative working arrangements at places of increased demand - is central to that commitment.
In the UK alone, over 400 people have been successfully redeployed, supporting their teammates and playing their part in keeping essential services running. Our Hidden Heroes are everywhere - with colleagues from airport lounges, corporate environments and education settings all joining the cause. Want to read about more of our Hidden Heroes? John Hassall, Sodexo's general manager at Birmingham Children's Hospital, has directly benefited from colleagues who have taken part in the redeployment process: "I have secured three colleagues from other operations to assist with the vital work at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Parkview Clinic at this critical time.
"The process has been very simple, as Healthcare has adopted an on-boarding programme for colleagues redeploying to our business. What stands out head and shoulders above everything else is the willingness of the colleagues who have re-deployed into our business to want to support us. It really does show what a fantastic team of frontline colleagues we have across the business."
Our HR teams have been working hard through the weekends and Bank Holidays to respond to demand, including the talent management team who have been matching colleagues with opportunities across the region. As the situation with Coronavirus continues to evolve, so too does the pressure on public services, and the demand for support from Sodexo colleagues.
