Last week, we launched our new programme, rise with Sodexo, designed to help our clients prepare for their next normal.
Some of our teams have already been busy getting their client sites ready for employees’ return to work, like the Corporate Services team at Toyota in Burnaston, where Sodexo operate a range of food and soft FM services.
Toyota has begun preparations and planning for a production restart in the coming weeks which means our services will be required to support the client.
The proactive team have set up social distancing measures in the restaurant, with staff health and safety in mind, including a one-way queuing system marked with floor stickers to enforce a two-metre distance and protective screens for counter and till service.

Digital screens at the restaurant entrance notify customers of the route to take and chain fenced walkways to reinforce social distancing rules for customers queuing. The seating area has also been transformed, with just two seats per table, positioned diagonally to one another, with protective screens in the middle. You can find out about other measures introduced in this video about the service adaptations.
In Ireland, our client at Grafton Merchanting opened its doors to customers last week as part of Phase 1 of the Irish Government’s reopening of businesses.
Sodexo's onsite team had prepared well in advance to ensure that all necessary changes to food service were well considered and planned to enable colleagues and customers alike to return to a safe environment.
Site Manager Carl Sun and the team spent 3 full days onsite in advance of re-opening, using that time to refresh the mandatory training, to plan and implement new ways of working, and to address any questions by team members in advance of go-live.
New ways of working include adapting the Grab & Go service around the sandwich/salad bar, the once ‘self-service’ breakfast offer has now moved to a fully served offer, and social distancing is fully in place in the staff canteen.
Thank you to the Hidden Heroes who are working hard to transform our client sites to ensure that the people we serve can be confident they will be safe in the workplace.
Thank you for spreading the joy of kindness!
Last week, many of you were carrying out acts of kindness during Mental Health Awareness Week (18 to 24 May), as well as showing support for our LGBT+ colleagues on International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT - 17 May).
Watch last week's video to see our ambassador, Matt Dawson, thanking just some of the Hidden Heroes who have been paying it forward to their colleagues, friends and communities this week and beyond.
