Stop Hunger Awards 2020

2020 Stop Hunger Award winners revealed

Every year, thousands of you support the Stop Hunger Foundation through charitable giving, fundraising events and volunteering.

2019 was a record-breaking year for Stop Hunger. With your help, the Foundation raised more than £500,000 for the first time ever, making significant donations to 13 charity partners and impacting the lives of more than 300,000 beneficiaries.

This amazing progress was sadly stalled by the global Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, along with the opportunity to recognise those who have and continue to support Stop Hunger activities.

The Stop Hunger Awards is an annual event that was originally due to take place in March at the Sodexo Foundation Dinner. Unfortunately, the event had to be cancelled in order to keep people safe, as Covid-19 began to take hold across the region. However, it is still as important as ever to celebrate the winners and their amazing contributions.

Four awards were up for grabs this year, and a multitude of nominations were received from right across the region. The award categories are:

  • Volunteering award
  • Stop Hunger Day initiative award
  • Most innovative fundraising idea award
  • Best Charity Champion award

In a slightly different award ceremony to what was planned, the award winners have been announced virtually in a video hosted by Sodexo Ambassador Matt Dawson, with awards presented by Sodexo UK&I Region Chair Sean Haley.

To find out which of your nominated colleagues has won, please watch the video below:

Congratulations to the Stop Hunger Award 2020 winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Stop Hunger over the past year.

As we all look to life after lockdown, please don’t forget that Stop Hunger provides an opportunity for us to all come together, and as Sean says, “play our heart” to support each other and those most vulnerable in our society.

Over the next four weeks, we will continue to shine a spotlight on our winners by sharing their extraordinary examples on Your_Sodexo.

Don't skate on thin ice

Over the festive period, did you check your mulled wine wasn’t too hot to drink? Or take a trolley to pick up the big Christmas food shop, instead of straining to carry a heavy basket? These are simple risk assessments we all make in everyday life to keep ourselves and others safe. Yet we sometimes forget to apply the same at work and keep up-to-date with crucial HSEQ changes.

Festive 5 Elf

Mental ‘elf’ comes first

In December 2020, we encouraged everyone to put their mental ‘elf’ front and centre by taking part in Festive 5 – our regional festive Stop Hunger fundraiser. With your support, the activity collectively raised more than £2,700 that will go towards helping those most vulnerable within our local communities.
