Your mental ‘elf’ needs you!

All of us have experienced some form of lockdown over the past year, potentially causing serious impact on our mental health. With the arrival of dark winter nights, this is fast becoming a priority on everyone’s mind.

At Sodexo we offer multiple ways to support your wellbeing - find out how Sodexo can support you here.

We already know that taking part in regular physical activity is something that can improve wellbeing, especially mental health, so with December right around the corner, we’re introducing Festive 5.

Festive 5 is a regional Stop Hunger fundraising activity encouraging everyone at Sodexo to move 5, donate 5 and nominate 5 over the winter period.

Quite simply, safely run / walk / dance / skip 5 km, donate £/€5 to Stop Hunger where you can and nominate 5 of your colleagues to do the same!

Help to get you moving 5

Three Festive 5 prizes are up for grabs as an incentive to get everyone moving:

  • Best time - this is for those who like to run.
  • Best costume - this is for those who like to have fun.
  • Festive Spirit - this is for those who love to spread the Christmas cheer!

To further enhance your Festive 5 experience, we’re also throwing some ‘snowballs’ your way to help:

  • If you’re walking the 5 km, why not set up a Teams call with your colleagues and complete the Festive 5 together? Chuck on your headphones, wrap up and have a nice chat whilst you virtually walk together.
  • Going for gold with a 5 km run? Click here to listen to our winter warming Spotify playlist full of all your festive favourites and running classics.
  • Set up your own team competition and see who can beat the clock or wear the best costume – we know there some competitive Buddy the Elf’s out there!
  • Click here to download an A4 poster to promote Festive 5.

Donating 5 to Stop Hunger

Once you’ve completed your 5 km, please donate to the Stop Hunger Foundation.

We’re suggesting everyone makes a £/€5 donation where they can – that’s £/€1 for every kilometre, and a massive contribution to the Foundation’s charity partners.

Click here to make your donation to Stop Hunger. If you’d like to, when donating, share what segment you belong to.

Nominating 5 colleagues

Since we’re unable to prance together like last year, don’t forget to nominate 5 of your colleagues to take part. We are suggesting you make nominations via a group email or through social media.

To get you started, download the guide here to make the most of nominating your Sodexo colleagues. Make sure to use the hashtag #SodexoFestive5 on any posts so we can see where (and who) you are nominating.

Don’t forget that if you want to win a prize, you will need to share your time, what you’ve done and perhaps a few photos – everyone has a pair of elf ears somewhere!

Thank you in advance to everyone who takes part in the Festive 5 - your mental ‘elf’ needs you, so we’re encouraging as many of you to get moving and take part where you can.
