Tillery Valley Foods’ Stuart Hagerty and Jeff Dunlop recently got together to organise a charity dinner event, with the aim of raising funds for Springboard. The charity helps young people achieve their potential and nurtures unemployed people of any age into work. It helps alleviate poverty by supporting disadvantaged and underprivileged people into sustainable employment within hospitality, leisure and tourism.

Project manager Stuart was one of two Sodexo people chosen to represent the company in this year’s Springboard challenge in Nepal, from 9 to 21 March. Service Operations’ Natalie Scott is also taking part. The challenge includes a gruelling five-day trek through the Mahalangur Mountains followed by a three-day community project to re-build Manju Shree School, which was damaged by the earthquake last year.

Stuart, pictured far left, and Jeff decided to hold the charity dinner to help raise funds in advance of the Nepal trip. The function was held in Pen-Y-Bont Football Club, in Bridgend, South Wales and offered guests a three-course dinner, entertainment from a comedian, a raffle, and auctions. The guest speaker was Welsh rugby legend Andy Powell (pictured far right). It proved to be a hugely successful night, exceeding all expectations and raising a fantastic £6,000.00 for Springboard. The money raised will directly help young people and safeguard their future employment.

Stuart and Natalie have just returned from their trip and will be sharing their experiences in the next issue of Stars magazine.

So far they have raised nearly £9,000 and you can still donate:
