The Sodexo Sports & Leisure team at South Queensferry raised more than £300 during a busy day of fundraising during Stop Hunger Day. Sales and event coordinator Kelly McVey helped organise a scavenger hunt and raffle to raise funds for Stop Hunger, which is dedicated to supporting charities that tackle malnutrition and promote healthy eating in the UK and Ireland.
The day started at 9.30am with Kelly’s short presentation about Stop Hunger's work and a collection of donations at the South Queensferry office near Edinburgh, ready to be raffled. Then it was time to split into teams and tackle the scavenger hunt. Participating groups were asked to scan the local area collecting photos including the team at the Welcome to Fife sign (pictured) and items including a takeaway menu and a seashell. “There was a mix of office and kitchen staff on the day so it was good for team building too,” said Kelly.
Raffle tickets were sold to office staff, with prizes including a lunch for two at a local restaurant and vouchers. At the end of the day the event had raised £318.67.
However, it wasn't just about money, and over a fantastic lunch cooked up by the Sodexo chefs staff members were invited to sign up to volunteer with charities including Sodexo’s partner charities FareShare and the Trussell Trust.
