For the third time in 2020, The BIG Sodexo Quiz returned from the crypt last Thursday (29 October) to raise some much-needed funds for Stop Hunger and its charity partners.

Over 250 of your Sodexo colleagues took part in the online quiz, and with your support, the Halloween spooktacular raised more than £1,100 on the night – a hauntingly good amount that will go to support those most in need.

The quiz originally started life on the Corporate Services’ Diageo contract and was meant to be a one-off event. Since the first quiz, the virtual event has grown into a region-wide activity that has been joined by special Sodexo and celebrity guests alike. In total, the three quizzes have raised more than £6,000!

If you’d like to donate to The BIG Sodexo Quiz pot, you can do so by clicking here.

On Thursday, Sodexo ambassador Matt Dawson was joined by regular quizmaster and star of the Chris Moyle’s show, Rob DJ, with a ghoulish guest appearance from Julie Ennis, CEO Corporate Services UK & Ireland, who shone a spotlight on the importance of the Foundation’s activities.

Stop Hunger Charity Champion, Michelle Hukin, also joined the fun to tell quiz-goers more about the Foundation’s recent £5,000 donation to Leeds based charity St George’s Crypt, demonstrating where your support for Stop Hunger is truly making a difference to local communities.

Those taking part in the quiz were competing against their colleagues to win four awards. We can reveal your quiz winners are:

  • Winning Team / Individual – The Bampots from the Hard FM Deployment Team with an overall score of 44 out of 45!
  • Best Dressed Individual – Marie Arthur from the Diageo contract
  • Best Dressed Team – Tick or Cheat from the Johnson & Johnson contract
  • Best Team Name – Demons are a Ghoul’s Best Friend

If you haven’t yet been contacted to receive your mini prize, please email Jo Watt so this can be sent out to you. Congratulations to the overall winners, and a huge thank you to everyone for taking part – we hope you all had a smashing (pumpkins) time!

If you didn’t have chance to join the quiz in real-time, you can still play along on Microsoft Teams by watching the recording here.

Volunteering to stop the spread

Over the coming weeks, the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS), as well as some local authorities, will be searching for volunteers to support efforts to recover from the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Sodexo is assisting the RVS and UK Government by promoting the opportunities available. Can you lend a helping hand?
